New 237bhp turbo-petrol engine will perform duty on both entry-level Land Rovers.
Jaguar Land Rover India has announced the launch of the Ingenium petrol powertrain equipped Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque in India.
The new 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, Ingenium petrol powertrain is indigenously developed by JLR and replaces the previous Ford-sourced petrol engine. This new motor, which pumps 237bhp of max power, is claimed to be more efficient and refined than its predecessor. An 8-speed automatic gearbox is the standard gearbox option with this engine.
After this update, the 2018 Discovery Sport is priced from ₹49.20 lakh, and is offered in SE and HSE trims. The 2018 Range Rover Evoque on the other hand, is priced from ₹51.06 lakh and is offered in SE and HSE Dynamic trims.
Both these SUVs come equipped with WiFi Hotspot (with 4G access to up to eight devices) and Pro Services. InControl-Pro Services on these vehicles sport key features like The Route Planner App, Commute Mode and Sharing ETA.
The new 2.0-litre Ingenium now powers a good share of JLR’s petrol lineup, however, its power output varies across different models. Recently, the Jaguar XE and XF were also updated with this engine, while the new Velar has been featuring this motor since its launch.
Rohit Suri, President & Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover India said, “The Ingenium petrol powertrain has been well accepted in the Range Rover Velar and we are now happy to offer our Land Rover Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque customers the same refined and efficient experience with exceptional performance”.
