Lamborghini firmly believes that its super-SUV will triple its sales in India.
The Lamborghini Urus is set to launch in India on January 11, 2018 - just a month after its world debut in Italy.
The Urus was first showcased as a concept at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show, and took a lengthy five year time to morph into a production vehicle. The Urus is the first high-riding Lambo in over 24 years, and can be termed as a spiritual successor to the Italian company’s LM002, which was discontinued way back in 1993.
The Urus is based on the Volkswagen Group’s MLB platform which also underpins the Porsche Cayenne, Bentley Bentayga and the Audi Q7. At the heart of this SUV lies the first ever turbocharged engine to be used in a Lamborghini - a 4.0-litre V8 that pumps out a mega 641bhp of power and 850Nm of torque.
The Urus is the fastest production SUV as per Lamborghini, and can do the 0-100km/h dash in 3.6 seconds, and 0-200km/h in just 12.8 seconds. To provide stopping power to this monster of an SUV, Lamborghini has fitted it with a 440mm carbon ceramic disc up front and a 370mm one at the back. The Italian SUV come fitted with 21-inch wheels as standard but can be upsized to 23-inches.
Expect the Lamborghini Urus to start around the Rs. 3 crore mark in India.
