At the Volkswagen Group Media Night event held on April 24, Automobili Lamborghini unveiled its first plug-in hybrid version of the Urus SUV. Called the Urus SE, it is claimed to be the most powerful and technologically advanced SUV of all time. Despite being a PHEV (plug-in hybrid vehicle), the Lamborghini Urus SE gets the same 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine as the Urus S and the Urus Performante. This engine, combined with an electric motor, makes an impressive 789bhp of maximum power at 6,000rpm and 950Nm of peak torque at 1,750rpm to 5,750rpm. Whereas the gasoline engine alone produces 612bhp and 800Nm of torque, the electric motor develops 189bhp and 483Nm of torque on its own.
Lamborghini says it has completely re-engineered the twin-turbo V8 to work in optimal synergy with the electric motor. The latter is housed within the eight-speed automatic transmission and draws power from a 25.9kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which is placed under the load floor and above the electronically controlled rear axle differential.

Lamborghini Urus SE: Range, Top Speed, Acceleration
Lamborghini says the permanent magnet synchronous (PMS) motor can act as both a "boost" for the combustion engine and as a traction element, making the Urus SE a 100 per cent electric 4WD vehicle that claims an electric-only range of 60+ kilometres. Though based on the Urus S, the Urus SE has a claimed top speed of 312km/h, about 7km/h higher than that of the S. 0 to 100km/h comes up in a claimed time of 3.4 seconds, which makes it 0.1 seconds quicker than the Urus S and yet slower than the Performante and the S.
Debuting along with the Urus SE is the new centrally located longitudinal electric torque vectoring system with an electro-hydraulic multi-plate clutch. This distributes the driving torque variably and continuously between the front and rear axles. It also works in synergy with the new electronic limited-slip differential on the rear axle, giving the vehicle an "on-demand oversteer".
Lamborghini Urus SE: Interior
Inside, the Lamborghini Urus SE gets a redesigned dashboard with a 12.3-inch central touchscreen running the latest HMI software. The AC vents, door panels, and seats get a revamp as well. Interior bits also include four new driving modes (Full EV Drive, Hybrid, Performance, Recharge), in addition to six Urus driving modes. Moreover, users will benefit from a range of customisation options, including 47 interior finishes and 100+ exterior colour options.
Lamborghini Urus SE: Exterior
Speaking of the exterior, the Urus SE stands apart from the S with its new bonnet, radiator grille, and Matrix LED headlamps with a new light signature. In profile, the vehicle features newly designed alloy wheels, available in sizes ranging from 21 inches to 23 inches. The wheels come wrapped in new Pirelli P Zero tyres. At the rear, you find a new tailgate, along with Y-shaped connecting LED tail lights with a mesh pattern. Then, there is also a redesigned diffuser, which together with the new spoiler increases the downforce by 35 per cent at high speeds compared to the Urus S.

Focusing on aerodynamics, Lamborghini has equipped the Urus SE with new under-body air vents and revised air ducts. As a result, 15 per cent more airflow is available for the mechanical and engine components and 30 per cent more for the braking system.
