Lamborghini Huracan was launched hardly 10 months ago at the Geneva Motor Show and has already set benchmarks in the international market in terms of sales
Not long ago, Lamborghini decided to replace Gallardo with something new and fresh and called it the Huracan. Main motto was to increase the sales figures, and according to the recent data revealed by the manufacturer, that has an expertise in making bulls high on steroids, Huracan has found 3,000 owners worldwide in just a span of 10 months. It was launched at the Geneva Motor Show in March this year and not many were sure of its success as it was replacing something that had an iconic image in the world of supercars. But here it is, helping Lamborghini write a new success story by creating a new record in terms of sales. Lamborghini sold 2,121 units (of all the models) in 2013, whereas Huracan alone smashed that figure despite being launched in March. Out of these numbers 1,000 units were sold only in U.S.A. and rest 2,000 are in other markets across the globe. With these figures, Lamborghini is already pacing towards the sales mark of 3,600 units this year. It is also the first time in Lamborghini’s history when it has seen the sales figure cross the 3,000 mark.
Just for the records, the Lamborghini Huracan’s engine is a brand new 5.2-liter V10 that delivers a little over 600 bhp. This also makes it cross the 100kmph barrier in just 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 202mph. The power is then delivered to all the four wheels with the help of an all-new dual-clutch semi-automatic transmission.
Alessandro Farmeschi, COO, Lamborghini America said in a statement, “In the Americas we worked together with our dealer partners to outline their launch outreach strategy from a new perspective. How to make their events and communications bold yet welcoming. As a result, we are watching a success story unfold. As the Huracán arrives in-market, consumers are anxiously waiting to experience this vehicle which is a direct result of these targeted events.”
Lamborghini’s boss Stephan Winkelmann has already hinted at some new versions of Huracan sometime in the future which might include a rear-wheel driven Huracan and a more capable ‘Superleggera’ variant.
