Lamborghini Celebrates 50 Years of Countach with First Ever LP400 at Sant'Agata Bolognese
The Lamborghini Countach LP 400, introduced in 1974, was powered by a 3.9-litre V12 engine that made 369bhp. This iconic supercar marked a significant milestone in automotive design and performance.
The Lamborghini Countach, launched in March 1974, marked a major shift for the Sant'Agata Bolognese automaker. It was the first Lamborghini with in-house bodywork and interiors, moving away from the company's previous reliance on specialised coachbuilders. This change streamlined production and gave Lamborghini more creative control, boosting its growth and solidifying its reputation for cutting-edge supercars. To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Lamborghini brought the original Countach LP 400 back for a photo shoot with its modern successor, the Revuelto.
Lamborghini’s Chief Manufacturing Officer Ranieri Niccoli said: 'We are proud to still be producing our super sports car models in the place where the Countach was created. Production has radically changed since then and there was a marked transformation of many aspects starting with the production of the Countach right through to today's models. Today our production is very different from 1974, but it retains the best aspects and brings together the manual skills of our operators and the best available technologies, giving rise to the so-called Manifattura Lamborghini Next Level. The common denominator between the production of the Countach and our cars today is attention to detail.'

About Lamborghini Countach
The Lamborghini Countach LP 400, introduced in 1974, was an innovative car. Its 3.9-litre V12 engine produced 369 horsepower. The Countach's wedge-shaped body and scissor doors set it apart and redefined automotive design. During its 16-year production run, the Countach evolved with each new version. The LP 400 S featured flared wheel arches, while the 5000 S came with a larger 4.8-litre V12, reflecting its continuous improvement.
Today, Lamborghini carries on the Countach's legacy with the Revuelto, a 12-cylinder plug-in hybrid. The Revuelto's V12 engine, battery pack, and scissor doors honour the original Countach, while its design includes the "Countach line," connecting it to its iconic predecessor.

The Lamborghini Revuelto uses a hybrid powertrain with a newly developed 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine. This engine delivers 825bhp and 725Nm of torque. Three electric motors and a 3.8kWh lithium-ion battery pack boost the V12 engine, bringing the total output to 1,015bhp. This setup enables rapid acceleration and a top speed of over 350km/h.
An 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox sends power to all four wheels, ensuring smooth shifts and excellent traction. The Revuelto's powertrain not only provides outstanding performance but also supports a more sustainable drive.
