Following multiple teasers and speculation, Kia India has finally unveiled the much-awaited Syros compact SUV. Positioned above the sub-4m Sonet SUV, the Kia Syros has a 'tallboy design', with a flat roofline and boxy silhouette, creating more room on the inside – 465-litre boot space versus the Sonet's 385 litres. Speaking of, Kia says the 'lounge-like' cabin offers 'futuristic features' and reclining rear seats, among other things.
Underneath the skin are a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine. The former is tuned to produce 118bhp and 172Nm of peak torque, while the latter makes 116bhp and 250Nm. A six-speed manual gearbox is offered as standard, while six-speed torque converter automatic and seven-speed DCT units are optional. Kia is expected to add an electric powertrain to the lineup in mid-2025. The newly unveiled SUV comes in 6 variants – HTK, HTK (O), HTK+, HTX, HTX+, and HTX+ (O) – and 8 monotone paint finishes (Pewter Olive, Aurora Black Pearl, Frost Blue, Intense Red, Gravity Grey, Imperial Blue, Sparkling Silver, and Glacier White Pearl).

Kia Syros: Exterior
The Syros is Kia's new 'tough, compact SUV with practicality and flexibility'. It has a robust front end marked out by a blanked-out tiger nose grille, a clamshell bonnet (with a Kia logo), vertically stacked LED headlamps, LED Daytime Running Lamps, and a wide air dam. The side profile features dual-tone alloy wheels, silver roof rails, and flush-fitting door handles. The wheels measure 17 inches. There is also the black cladding around the wheel arches and bumpers. The rear end stands upright with two-piece L-shaped taillamps, an integrated spoiler, a shark-fin antenna, and a windshield with a wraparound effect.
Kia Syros: Interior, Features
Designed to offer 'maximum space and comfort', the dual-tone interior incorporates reclining rear seats with leatherette upholstery and ventilation. The Hyundai Venue is the other model in the segment to get the reclining seats.
The Syros additionally features a panoramic sunroof, a 30-inch Trinity Panoramic Display Panel (with user-friendly interface), wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a two-spoke steering wheel (with a Kia logo), an 8-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, dual-zone climate control, remote window up-down, an engine start/stop button, a new gear selector lever, a four-way power adjustable driver’s seat, front parking sensors, Type-C charging ports, wireless charging, and 64-colour ambient lighting. Three terrain modes are available: Mud, Snow/Wet, and Sand.
Kia Syros: Safety Gear
Safety-wise, the Kia Syros comes with electronic stability control (ESC), ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera, an electronic parking brake (with auto hold), a tyre pressure monitor, and 6 airbags as standard. Along with these, you also get Level 2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) with 16 autonomous features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, high beam assist, and autonomous emergency braking.

The price of the new Kia Syros will be revealed in January 2025, probably at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Expo. Bookings for the model commence on January 3 next year, with deliveries to follow in early February.
