The wait is almost over! Kia will announce prices for its new sub-4 metre SUV, the Syros, on February 1, 2025. Positioned above the Sonet, the Syros is the next step in Kia’s commitment to premium, compact SUVs. Its striking boxy design, impressive 2,550mm wheelbase, and futuristic three-screen glass panel make it a strong contender in the crowded SUV market. As the launch of Kia’s next big thing is just around the corner, here’s a closer look at some of its key highlights.
Looks
The Syros combines a modern appearance with premium features, perfectly catering to the growing appetite for premium SUVs in the Indian market. Available in eight striking monotone colours—Pewter Olive, Aurora Black Pearl, Frost Blue, Intense Red, Gravity Grey, Imperial Blue, Sparkling Silver, and Glacier White Pearl—the SUV makes a strong first impression. Its bold design features include a blanked-out tiger nose grille, a refined clamshell bonnet with the Kia logo, vertically stacked LED headlights, LED DRLs, and an aggressive air intake.

The side profile is highlighted by silver roof rails, flush door handles, and 17-inch wheels with black cladding, while the rear is distinguished by L-shaped taillights, an integrated spoiler, and a shark-fin antenna, giving the Syros a dynamic, sporty edge.
Power
Performance is undoubtedly a key factor when choosing a car, and Kia’s new SUV takes this aspect seriously, offering two powerful engine options. The first is a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine delivering 118bhp and 172Nm of torque, available with a choice of a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DCT. The second option is a 1.5-litre diesel engine, producing 114bhp and 250Nm, paired with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. The ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figures show that the diesel variant delivers an impressive 20.75km/l with the manual transmission and 17.65km/l with the automatic. On the other hand, the petrol variant offers 18.20km/l with the manual and 17.68km/l with the DCT, making both options highly fuel-efficient.

The Syros boasts a spacious and airy interior, a key advantage of its tall-boy structure. Generous headroom and ample legroom, thanks to its impressive 2,550mm wheelbase (significantly larger than rivals like the Brezza, Venue, and Nexon). The Syros enhances the rear passenger comfort with sliding and reclining seats, offering adjustable angles for personalised support. It also features segment-first cooled rear seats (base only), while front seats offer cooling for both the base and backrest. Other highlights include dual 12.3-inch displays, automatic up/down windows, a Harman/Kardon eight-speaker sound system, a two-spoke steering wheel with the Kia emblem, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, push-button start, and Type-C charging ports. Additionally, there are three terrain modes: Mud, Snow/Wet, and Sand.
