In March 2020, Kia Motors registered sales of more than 8,500 units with just two products on sale. Since its debut in the Indian market, the Korean carmaker has sold more than 81,000 units
Kia Motors entered the Indian car market in August 2019 with the Seltos. From the very beginning, it was clear that the Korean carmaker had built quite an impressive product, which was offered at a very attractive price. The Seltos was quick to climb up on the sales charts, and the momentum was sustained well with the launch of the Carnival in February 2020. Sales numbers for the month of February 2020 brought good news for Kia Motors. The company managed to beat Tata Motors and take third sport in India for the month. With the March 2020 numbers now out, it seems Kia has managed to retain its position.
Kia managed to sell more than 8,500 units in March 2020 – 7,466 units of the Seltos and 1,117 units of the Carnival. The Korean carmaker’s sales figures seem all the more impressive for several reasons. It is no secret that the Indian automotive industry has been experiencing a huge slowdown over the past year or so. Even during this time, Kia has not only successfully established their brand in India but is also looking at expanding its product portfolio.
March 2020 has been an extremely difficult month for carmakers. With the coronavirus pandemic forcing the government to enforce a complete lockdown starting 22nd March, automobile manufacturers only had three weeks of sales for the month. With that in mind, like all manufacturers, Kia Motors, too, has been hugely affected by the lockdown, and the numbers speak for themselves. In the months of January and February, Kia sold 15,450 units and 15,644 units, respectively.
