You might be aware that Kia Motors is going to enter the Indian car market in the coming time - 2019, to be precise. The Korean auto maker has already acquired land to set up a manufacturing unit in Andhra Pradesh and has committed that its new production facility will start operations, beginning 2019. The construction of Kia Motors’ India plant will start by the end of this year, although retail sales of Kia products will commence only after the second half of 2019, says Kia.
Now while there’s a lot of time left for Kia to start selling cars in India, the firm isn’t sitting idle at the moment. In order to set up its sales channels across the country, Kia has already started doing its homework. The Korean brand is going to host a series of roadshows around the country, meeting prospective dealer partners. Kia will organise these road-shows in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolkata, through August and September 2017.
Through the roadshows, Kia will interact with prospective dealer partners, giving them an opportunity to learn more about the firm’s cars, its business strategy and the company’s plans for establishing its dealer network in the country. Kia has also launched its official website for the Indian market, where interested parties/dealers can register so as to partner up with Kia Motors India.
Kia’s production unit in India will initially have an annual production capacity of 300,000 units. Once the retail sales begin, Kia will set up as much as 300 dealerships across the country over the next three to five years. The company hasn’t yet revealed the exact models it plans to bring here, but it has confirmed that a compact sedan, a compact SUV and a halo (CBU) model will be its first three products for our market.
