Kia India has launched its EV9 three-row electric SUV that debuted in India in a concept guise at the Auto Expo 2023. The electric SUV joins the EV6 (Rs 60.97 lakh–Rs 65.97 lakh, ex-showroom) in Kia India's EV lineup as a fully imported model. At Rs 1.30 crore (ex-showroom), the Kia EV9 will set its competition with the Audi Q8 e-tron, the Mercedes-Benz EQE, and other luxury electric SUVs. The new flagship electric SUV is based on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) that underpins the Kia EV6 and the Hyundai Ioniq 5. The Kia EV9 comes with a 99.8kWh battery pack that claims an ARAI-certified range of 561km on a single charge, and can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in 24 minutes using a 350kW fast charger.
With a dual electric motors setup, the EV9 is rated for 379bhp and 700Nm of peak torque, resulting in a 0–100km/h acceleration time of 5.3 seconds. It also offers vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology, enabling owners to power electric appliances with the vehicle's onboard battery pack.

Kia EV9: Exterior
The EV9 is the Kia's biggest and most expensive SUV offered globally. It has a two-box shape with design cues similar to those of the EV3 and the EV5 sold abroad. Up front, the vehicle has a vertical headlamp design with Star Map LED DRLs (daytime running lights), as well as Kia's signature Tiger Nose grille with a single air vent.
In profile, the EV9 gets a flat roofline, flush-fitting door handles, and aero alloys with sharp wheel inserts. The wheel size ranges from 20 to 22 inches. The meticulously created rear fascia has a vertical taillamp cluster, a prominent roof spoiler, and Kia lettering on the tailgate. Kia offers the EV9 in five exterior colour options – Snow White Pearl, Ocean Blue, Pebble Gray, Panthera Metal, and Aurora Black Pearl. In terms of size, the EV9 is 5,015mm long, 1,980mm wide, and 1,780mm tall. It features a 3,100mm-long wheelbase and a 198mm ground clearance.
Kia EV9: Interior, Features
On the inside, the Kia EV9 offers dual-tone interior theme options: white-black and beige-black. Being tech-loaded, it packs a bunch of features, including a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system (with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, dual electric sunroofs, and a 5.0-inch climate control panel. A digital key, a digital inside rearview mirror, an electrically adjustable telescopic steering wheel, 64-colour ambient lighting, a 14-speaker Meridian sound system, OTA updates, 3-zone climate control, Kia Connect 2.0 with 103 connected tech features, and a wireless charger also form part of the mix
The three-row EV9 is available in a single GT-Line AWD variant with captain seats for the second row, which are power-adjustable in 8 ways and benefit from a massaging function and under-thigh support. The driver and the co-driver get an 18-way adjustable seat (with a memory function) and a 12-way adjustable seat, respectively.

Kia EV9: Safety Kit
For safety, the vehicle is equipped with 10 airbags, ESC, ABS, a 360-degree surround camera, all-wheel disc brakes, parking sensors (front, side, and rear), and Level 2 ADAS features such as adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and lane keep assist.
