Expect the Kia EV6 to arrive as a CBU sometime in June 2022. Kia India has already confirmed that only a limited number of units will be available for sale in 2022.
With this announcement, Kia India has formally announced its entry into the EV market. Though rumours of the EV6 coming to our shores had been going around for quite some time, Kia India has now laid all doubts to rest by announcing 26th May as the date when the bookings open. Expect the price announcement to follow shortly, most likely in June 2022.
The first-ever dedicated Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) from Kia, the EV6 is also the first product designed under the brand’s new design philosophy – ‘Opposites United’ and it's also the 2022 European Car of the Year. Built on the Hyundai Motor Group's latest EV architecture, the E-GMP, the EV6 offers an 800V architecture, meaning that it can charge from 10 – 80% in just 18 minutes. Or, you can add 100kms of range by charging it for just 4.5 minutes.

In terms of the powertrain, we're expecting Kia India to bring the EV6 with multiple options, if not all that are available in the international markets. Speaking of the options, there are long-range (77.4kWh) and standard-range (58kWh) battery pack options. Both battery pack options are available with Rear-Wheel Drive and All-Wheel Drive variants.
The range-topping EV6 GT, available only with the 77.4kWh battery pack, accelerates from 0 – 100km/h in 3.5 seconds, with a top speed of 260km/h. This version was spied in India recently, so there's a good chance that Kia India might offer it in the line-up. Expect more confirmed details to follow in the build-up to the EV6's India launch.
