Kia India has initiated a voluntary recall for the EV6 electric SUV. A total of 1,138 EV6 units produced between March 3, 2022, and April 14, 2023 are covered by the recall. The carmaker claims that a potential issue with the Integrated Charging Control Units (ICCU) of electric SUV units worldwide led to the need for the recall. The 12-volt auxilliary battery may not charge due to an ICCU malfunction, which could lead to a roadside discharge and complete loss of driving power.

According to Kia India, the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) has been notified of the voluntary recall, and the company will contact the impacted customers personally. The brand further stated that it is actively updating the integrated charging control unit's software on the affected EV6 units to ensure a flawless ownership experience. Additionally, customers can make an appointment for the software update by contacting the local Kia retailer.
