The Kia EV6 will be a limited offering for 2022 and will be priced between Rs 65 and 80 lakh (ex-showroom).
We recently drove the EV6 at the Buddh International Circuit. And now, Kia has begun accepting bookings for its high-end EV. You can book one by shelling out Rs 3 lakh at one of 15 Kia dealerships across 12 cities in India. The Kia EV6’s availability will be limited, as only 100 units are coming to India as a CBU-import in 2022.
In terms of numbers, the Kia EV6 seems quite impressive. It has a claimed range of 528km and takes only 18 minutes to be charged from 10 to 80 per cent. What's more, it can go from 0 to 100km/h in 5.2 seconds. All this is possible because of a 77.4kWh lithium-ion battery pack and a 321bhp electric motor (on the AWD version). The electric motor in the 2WD version makes 226bhp.
The Kia EV6 has an 800V electrical architecture, meaning it can be charged using a 350KWh charger – the reason for its insanely quick recharge time. However, you won’t find this charger anywhere in India, as of now. The EV6 is based on the E-GMP platform, which also underpins the Hyundai IONIQ 5 – another EV from the Hyundai/Kia stable coming to India this year.
Kia’s EV6 is also packed with features. It gets the latest set of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) features and 60+ connected car features. The EV6 also gets a comprehensive regenerative braking package, which allows the driver to select between 6 modes and allows for single-pedal driving. There are also three drive modes – Normal, Eco, and Sport.
As the Kia EV6 will be a direct import and will attract high taxation, we expect it to be priced between Rs 65 lakh and Rs 80 (both ex-showroom).
