Set to be launched in the second half of 2019, the Kia Seltos will compete against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass and the soon to be launched MG Hector
At the Auto Expo 2018, Kia showcased a lot of its cars but the one that caught the most attention was the SP Concept. This mid-sized SUV was later revealed to us in near-production form – the SP2i. Now, just two weeks before its global unveiling, the company has finally revealed its name. The Kia SP2i has officially been christened as the Seltos. The name has been derived from Greek mythology.
Speaking about the Seltos, Manohar Bhat, Head - Marketing and Sales, Kia Motors India said, “Seltos is all set to redefine the mid-SUV car segment with its eye-catching looks, exclusive segment first features, and athletic design. We have spent a lot of time in perfecting our car to suit the taste of the Indian customers and I am glad that this originally India intended car is so perfect that it compelled us to make Seltos available globally. The car looks absolutely stunning and very closely matches the SP concept we showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo.”
Spy pictures of the Kia Seltos have been making their rounds on the internet for a while now. In terms of design, the Seltos stays true to the SP2 concept. It gets the signature tiger-nose grille up front complimented by sharp lookin LED lights, nice looking 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and more. In terms of features, expect the Seltos to come with wireless charging, WiFi, 360-degree camera, touchscreen infotainment, a head-up display, ambient lighting and more.
Right from the time of its launch, the Kia Seltos is likely to come with both petrol and diesel engine options. Expect the Seltos to come with BSVI ready 1.5-litre petrol and diesel motors that will come paired with manual and automatic transmissions.
Kia is all set to take the wraps off the Seltos on June 20 and is expected to launch it later this year. When launched, Kia will face some tough competition from the Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass and the upcoming MG Harrier.
