The Carnival MPV has been discontinued in India by the Korean automotive manufacturer Kia. The premium MPV is no longer officially listed among the vehicles offered for sale on the automaker's official website. At the start of the BS6 Phase 2 emission standards in April, most dealers had ceased processing new orders, and there were just a few unsold units left at a few locations. The Carnival was locally put together in India using CKD units. The BS6 Phase 2 upgrade was not carried out to the MPV like it was for other cars in the India portfolio of Kia. As a result of running out of inventory, the carmaker has stopped selling the Carnival. According to sources, the premium MPV is anticipated to return the following year in a new guise, maybe the production version of the newly unveiled KA4 MPV.

Next-Gen Carnival to Return in 2024

At the Auto Expo earlier this year, Kia displayed the fourth-generation Carnival as the KA4 MPV. Because the third-gen model was still on sale at the time, the automaker refrained from using the name Carnival so as to avoid confusing Indian buyers. Kia has already begun work on a mid-lifecycle upgrade that is anticipated to arrive by early 2024.

The fourth-generation Carnival was worldwide released in June 2020, making it already 3 years old. The fourth-generation model will then be given a facelift, bringing India and other markets into line with this time's product lifecycle. The revamp is anticipated to make the fourth-generation Carnival even bigger and more opulently furnished. It's even rumoured to get a new petrol-hybrid engine internationally; while it's unclear what will arrive in India, the price will undoubtedly increase.

New Kia Carnival: What to Expect?

The Carnival was introduced by Kia as a high-end MPV in India in 2020. A slight modification has been made to the premium MPV in the previous three years. Before it was delisted, the MPV was priced between Rs 31 lakh and 35.50 lakh (ex-showroom), and it was available in three variants with up to nine seats. The Carnival didn't have any direct competitors in the market at its pricing point. The Toyota Innova Crysta was the vehicle that came closest to what Carnival had. After Carnival failed to attract many customers, Kia released the more economical Carens the previous year in an effort to increase its market share in the three-row car class.

Kia is anticipated to swap out Carnival with the KA4 model it unveiled earlier this year at the Auto Expo 2023. The model that the South Korean car giant displayed resembles the one that is now on sale in international markets. The new MPV is larger than the outgoing Carnival, has additional space inside, and gives passengers a choice of up to 11 seating arrangements. The design and available features of the MPV have both been updated.

The fourth-gen car is known as the 2023 Carnival or KA4. It is available with a variety of amenities and technology, including twin sunroofs, rear occupant alert, and multi-Bluetooth connectivity. Furthermore, the Kia KA4 has amenities like the Advanced Driver Aids System. Other features include Blind-Spot Avoidance Assist (BCA), Lane Following Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), and Remote Smart Parking Assist. Also, Kia offers wireless charging, a multi-function steering wheel, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
