Kaher Kazem will succeed Arvind Saxena has President and MD of GM India, from Jan 1, 2016
General Motors has announced that the company has appointed Kaher Kazem, Chief Operating Officer (COO), GM India as the President and Managing Director for GM India as of 1st January, 2016. Arvind Saxena, serving President and Managing Director, GM India has decided to retire from the company. Saxena has been leading GM India since early 2014.
“With Kaher’s hands-on experience and direct knowledge of the business, we are pleased to appoint him to lead GM India at this important time. GM is committed to India for the long term. Kaher’s proven track record will enable us to deliver to Indian consumers the great vehicles they want and the world-class customer experience they deserve,” said, GM Executive Vice President and GM International President Stefan Jacoby.
“I want to thank Arvind, who has helped lay the foundation for the future success of GM India,” said Jacoby. “We look forward to a smooth transition to ensure the continued execution of our business transformation.”
Kaher Kazem joined General Motors at GM Holden in Australia in the year 1995 and has been serving the American automaker ever since. Before his India role, Kazem was serving as the President and Managing Director for General Motors in Uzbekistan.
"As we commit to our business in India, a clear focus on excellence and execution will be critical to our winning in this important market," the company said. "Over the next five years, we aim to grow our business in India, launch 10 new vehicles and establish our Talegaon operations as an export hub for emerging markets."
