FCA Group India has launched the petrol powered Jeep Wrangler Unlimited in India for Rs. 56 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
The Jeep Wrangler in India was launched for Rs. 71 lakh ex-showroom with a 2.8-litre inline-4 cylinder diesel engine. Now Jeep has introduced the Wrangler with a V6 petrol engine at a much lower price making it the most affordable SUV from Jeep in the country with their current offering.
The petrol powered Wrangler Unlimited with comes with an all-aluminium 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine. The engine produces 280bhp and 347Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed automatic gearbox. The engine features two-step variable valve timing system and eight-holed fuel injectors to deliver a balance of refinement and good power delivery to all four wheels, in addition to a new thermal management system and a cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system which allows for better fuel efficiency, even in off-road situations.
The Wrangler in diesel and now in petrol versions only comes as a four door option in India with full-framed removable doors and roof. The Wrangler also features Command Trac 4WD system, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), heavy duty suspension with gas shock absorbers and wash-out interiors with removable carpet and drain plugs, McKinley leather seats and remote keyless entry among many other features.
FCA Group in India offers the Wrangler in diesel and petrol version in addition to the Grand Cherokee with a 3.0-litre engine and the Grand Cherokee SRT with a full blown 6.4-litre Hemi V8. Kevin Flynn, Managing Director of the FCA Group in India has confirmed that the Jeep Compass, the first localised Jeep product, will be launched in the third quarter of this year as well, to expand their offering in India. The manufacturing of the Compass SUV in India will also cater to other right hand drive markets globally.
