Jeep India is all set to roll out the new Wrangler SUV in India on April 22. After making its world premiere in 2023, the updated Jeep Wrangler is now finally arriving in India. As of now, the Wrangler, Compass, Meridian, and the Grand Cherokee are the four SUV models offered by Jeep India. While the Jeep Compass is the brand's most economical SUV, the Wrangler is the second most expensive model, priced just below the Jeep Grand Cherokee – the manufacturer's flagship offering in the nation. The India-spec Wrangler is expected to receive several modifications to its design and features. However, the engine is likely to remain unchanged. Here's all you need to know about the upcoming Wrangler facelift in terms of specs, features, and design.
Jeep Wrangler: Variants and Price
In the domestic market, the Jeep SUV is available in two trim levels – Rubicon and Unlimited, which command ex-showroom prices of Rs 66.65 lakh and Rs 62.65 lakh, respectively. Although it doesn't have a direct competitor, it rivals the likes of the Land Rover Defender in our market.
Jeep Wrangler Facelift: Design Details
The facelifted Jeep model will probably have a redesigned front end with a more streamlined black radiator grille, adorned with Jeep's iconic seven-slat insignia. The India-spec Wrangler SUV will feature 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels, whereas the model sold in other countries will get a larger selection of alloy wheels. In addition, there are multiple roof options available for the Jeep Wrangler sold in international markets, but the India-spec version is expected to have both hard-top and soft-top options.
Jeep Wrangler Facelift: Interior Features
The upcoming Jeep Wrangler facelift is anticipated to have a somewhat updated dashboard design. The infotainment system will likely include a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen. It's powered by Jeep's Uconnect 5 system, which includes connected features like the Trails Offroad guide. The AC vents are now located beneath the screen. Furthermore, the lifestyle off-roader will also come equipped with features like a semi-digital instrument panel, 12-way power-adjustable front seats, automatic climate control, and wireless smartphone connectivity.
Jeep Wrangler Facelift: Engine and Gearbox Options
The new iteration of the Jeep Wrangler is expected to have the same 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine as the outgoing model. The unit can produce 400Nm of peak torque and 268bhp of maximum power. It will be mated to an eight-speed automatic torque converter transmission. Jeep's Select-Trac 4WD system uses this gearbox to transfer power from the engine to all four axles.
Jeep Compass Night Eagle Edition
Jeep has reintroduced the Night Eagle, a limited-edition version of the Compass SUV, in India. After an almost year-long absence, the SUV returns to the country at Rs 25.39 lakh (ex-showroom). It has a black roof, along with three exterior colour choices – Black, White, and Red. The 2.0-litre MultiJet turbo-diesel engine powering the Night Eagle Edition is coupled to a six-speed manual or a nine-speed automatic transmission. This unit can produce 168bhp of power and 350Nm of maximum torque.
