We already know that Jeep India will launch the facelifted version of the Wrangler on April 22. Unveiled globally about a year ago, the Jeep Wrangler facelift will arrive on our market with a refreshed design and additional features. However, ahead of the new Wrangler's India launch, Jeep has confirmed that its Meridian SUV, a three-row version of the Compass, will get an update for the model year 2024.
While not much is known, the 2024 Jeep Meridian is expected to get a cosmetic revision to its exterior along with an updated feature list. The exterior updates will likely include a tweaked grille, revised bumpers, and a fresh design for alloy wheels. One can also expect Jeep to offer new exterior colour options. Inside the cabin, the 2024 iteration of the Meridian SUV could pack a big 12.3-inch infotainment screen with an updated user interface and rear window blinds. There is a possibility that Jeep may offer Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) if we go by a previously spotted test mule of the Meridian SUV.
Features-wise, expect the updated Meridian to offer dual-zone climate control, ventillated and powered front seats, a digital instrument panel, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, wireless charging, and an air purifier. As far as safety goes, the SUV will likely come with six airbags, an anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic stability control (ESC), a hill start assist, ISOFIX attachments for child seats, and a 360-degree camera.
Jeep Meridian Facelift: Engine
Under the hood, the facelifted Meridian will likely receive a 2.0-litre diesel engine that powers the Jeep Compass. The engine, which is mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 9-speed torque converter automatic, makes 168bhp and 350Nm of peak torque. Additionally, there is a 4x4 drivetrain available with the existing Meridian, which will be carried over to the new model.
Jeep Meridian Facelift: Price, Rivals
The current version of the Jeep Meridian falls between Rs 33.60 lakh and Rs 36.97 lakh (ex-showroom). The three-row Meridian SUV is being offered with benefits of up to Rs 2.80 lakh this month. These benefits include corporate benefits, cash savings, exchange bonuses, and two years of extended warranty.
As for the facelifted Meridian, we expect a price increase over the existing iteration. Upon its launch, the new SUV will continue to rival the Toyota Fortuner, the MG Gloster, and the Skoda Kodiaq.
