The Compass compact SUV, made by the American manufacturing giant Jeep, has recently received more affordable variants in its India lineup. The automaker has introduced the Compass diesel in 4X2 variants with a 9-speed automatic transmission. The Jeep Compass formerly only had the top-of-the-line 4X4 versions available with this transmission. The updated variants of the all-new Compass are available for purchase in the Indian market with an ex-showroom starting price of Rs 23.99 lakh. Besides this, the manufacturer has also reduced the cost of this SUV's base variant; it now starts at Rs 20.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Additionally, the firm has unveiled a brand-new Black Shark edition for the MY2024 model with aesthetic improvements. According to Jeep, this updated range improves the affordability of the Automatic versions of the Compass SUV, representing a discount of close to 20 per cent or Rs 6 lakh.

2023 Jeep Compass 4x2: Design, Variants, and Colour Options
The 2023 Jeep Compass 4X2 will be offered with a new Glossy-Black grille, front LED reflector headlights and LED taillamps as standard, LED projector headlamps on the Model S, Glossy-Black 18-inch alloy wheels, as well as LED fog lamps. Meanwhile, design elements such as 18-inch aluminum Black-Gloss painted wheels, body-coloured painted roof, distinctive ignite red highlights, and BlackShark badging on the fenders are present on the new Black Shark Edition.
A total of five variants now make up the all-new Jeep Compass lineup: Sport, Longitude/Longitude Plus, Limited, BlackShark, and Model S. Furthermore, buyers can choose from seven colour options for the Jeep Compass 4X2: Galaxy Blue, Grigio Magnesio Grey, Grigio Metallic Green, Exotica Red, Diamond Black, and Pearl White.
2023 Jeep Compass 4x2: Mechanical Details
The 2.0-litre direct injection turbocharged inline four-cylinder unit under the bonnet of the Jeep Compass 4X2 generates 168bhp of maximum power and 350Nm of torque. A six-speed manual transmission and a nine-speed automatic transmission are paired with the engine. According to Jeep India, the first nine-speed automatic transmission in its class enables flawless gear shifts and best-in-class fuel efficiency. All trims include the Engine Stop-Start (ESS) feature as standard functionality. The car can go from 0-100km/h in about 9.8 seconds.
2023 Jeep Compass 4x2: Interior and Safety Features
Coming to the interior of the model, a wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity pad, a 10.25-inch frameless fully-coloured digital TFT gauge cluster, a panoramic sunroof, and a 10.1-inch next-generation Uconnect 5 digital infotainment system with operating speeds that are five times faster can be found in the cabin. Moreover, the 2023 Jeep Compass's mid-spec models will now be available with a panoramic sunroof, connectivity, and automatic gearbox as part of the updated variant portfolio.
As far as safety is concerned, the all-new Jeep Compass 4X2 has a full suite of safety features as standard on all trim levels, including a four-channel ABS and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), four-channel Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Advanced Brake Assist, Hill Start Assist, all-speed traction control, rear seat reminder alert, and Rain Brake Assist.
2023 Jeep Compass 4x2: Bookings and Market Competitors
For those unaware, the bookings for the newly launched iteration of the Compass are now open. Interested customers can go to the firm's official website or visit their nearest authorised dealerships to place their orders. The Hyundai Tucson, the Volkswagen Tiguan, and the Citroen C5 Aircross are just a few of the other high-end midsize SUVs the Jeep Compass competes against.

Jeep Meridian Overland Edition Unveiled
A new Jeep Meridian Overland Edition SUV featuring fresh alloy wheels, a modified grille design, body-coloured bumpers, and new interior upholstery has also been introduced by the brand. However, the prices for the new Jeep Meridian Overland Edition will be revealed sometime later.
