The F-Type Chequered Flag Special Edition celebrates 70 years of Jaguar sports cars since the introduction of the XK 120 and will be available in both coupe and convertible versions
To commemorate 70 years of its sports cars, since the launch of the XK 120 in 1948, British marque Jaguar has added a Chequered Flag Special Edition to its F-Type lineup, which pays homage to the brand's entire sports car lineage. Based on the F-Type R-Dynamic, the special edition does not feature any mechanical upgrades, just some visual enhancements on the exterior and interior of the car.
Talking about the styling additions, exterior highlights include a black contrast roof on the Coupé and 20-inch gloss black diamond-finish wheels, which are exclusive to the Chequered Flag edition. It will be available with a choice of three exterior colours: Carpathian Grey, Caldera Red or Fuji White.
The interior has been finished in Windsor leather, which will be offered with contrast stitching in either Red or Cirrus. The performance seats, with optional heated and cooling functionality, feature headrests embossed with bespoke Chequered Flag branding. Further changes include a dark brushed-aluminium centre console finisher in place of the standard R-Dynamic's delta aluminium centre console trim.
Ian Callum, the Director of Design at Jaguar said, 'Perfect proportions, design purity and visual drama – every Jaguar must express these qualities, and none more so than F-TYPE. In creating the Chequered Flag, we’ve focused on details which enhance F-TYPE’s presence and the promise of performance, and in doing so, made a fitting celebration of 70 years of beautiful, fast, Jaguar sports cars.'
Mechanically, the special edition will be available with either a 2.0-litre four-cylinder Ingenium petrol motor generating 296bhp and 400Nm of torque or a 3.0-litre supercharged petrol V6 motor, which comes in two states of tune – a 335bhp and 450Nm version or a 375bhp and 460Nm derivative.
