Kicked off at Amby Valley, the Jaguar Art of Performance Tour will travel to nearly 24 locations pan India
For those who know the Jaguar brand since its early days, its philosophy was based on three pillars – grace, space and pace. These three pillars essentially represented the entire Jaguar line-up. In fact, even today, all the products that wear the cat emblem are based on a similar philosophy, albeit with different words – luxury, lifestyle and sports. To give the press and potential customers, a chance to experience the brand’s philosophy and heritage, Jaguar kickstarted the Art of Performance Tour 2017-18. The Art of Performance Tour 2017-18 got underway at the Amby Valley air strip in Lonavla, and we were there to experience Jaguar’s entire product portfolio.
To highlight the capabilities of each of the products, Jaguar split the Art of Performance Tour into three experience zones – a slalom course to test handling capabilities; quick lane change and hard braking to get a feel of its braking prowess and a speed run.
We drove all the Jaguar sedans (XE, XF and the XJL) along with its first ever SUV offering, F-Pace on the slalom course as well as the lane change and braking zone. The XE proved to be the best of the lot in tacking the slalom course, and it didn’t quite come as a surprise considering its shorter wheelbase and relatively smaller dimensions. But it was the 5,255mm long XJL that managed to raise our eyebrows due to the ease with which it could be chucked around. Of course, being as long as it is and having a wheelbase which is almost as long as a Tata GenX Nano means there is enough and more room at the back, not to mention that it is a great personification of opulence. We also got a chance the get behind the wheel of the updated XF that was launched in September last year (Also read: Jaguar XF Review: First Drive) and the F-Pace (Jaguar F-Pace India Review: First Drive).
But the highlight of the Art of Performance Tour were Jaguar’s sportscars – the F-Type Coupe and the F-Type Convertible. Going flat out down the full length of the Amby Valley airstrip, the roaring sound of the exhaust and the outright acceleration brought an ear to ear grin on our faces.
The Art of Performance Tour will continue to 24 cities across India where experts and potential customers can experience the Jaguar brand under the guidance of expert instructors.
