British car maker, Jaguar Land Rover, has announced plans to discontinue use of the R-S and R-S GT badges on Jaguar vehicles, which have been in existence since the 90s, because their customers seem to be getting confused on the different trim levels. Instead, the luxury car maker will now implement the SVR badge and will not include any additional versions on top of that. According to Jaguar the most potent version of a model will wear the SVR badge. These models will be built on the same assembly line as regular models and will not be limited to production models. The first SVR-badged model was the Range Rover Sport SVR and this will most likely be followed by the Jaguar F-Type SVR later this year.

The new Special Vehicle Operations division of JLR has also made an announcement that special SVX models will also be put into production. All Land Rover SVX models will be hardcore off-roaders that take inspiration from rough-terrain events like the Dakar Rally and Camel Trophy. Land Rover is currently planning a hardcore Defender that will include very high-performance components. Further down the line the company will also consider an extreme Range Rover as well.
