JLR invests 20 million pound in the brand new SVO facility in Coventry. More high-performance derivatives of regular Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles to roll out in the near future.

Jaguar Land Rover’s performance division – Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) – is set to expand its operations as the company has opened a new 20 million pound (approximately Rs 174 crore) technical centre, especially for building bespoke high-performance models of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles.

Spread across an area of 20,000 square metre, the new technical unit will house manufacturing and paint facilities to create the SVO version of standard Jaguar or Land Rover vehicles. As part of its expansion plans, the firm will also hire 250 people for the SVO division. Alongside that, the SVO will be working on bespoke customization options for customers, while also taking care of restoration projects.

Commenting on the development, John Edwards, Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations, said: “The new SVO technical centre is a major step forward in meeting the desires of our most discerning customers. There are more than 200 skilled employees here that are committed to outstanding quality and craftsmanship in everything they do.This new technical centre enables us to provide an excellent foundation for the growth of the SVO business with the introduction of exciting new vehicle personalisation programmes.”

Since its inception in 2014, the SVO has launched the Range Rover Sport SVR and Jaguar F-Type SVR, while it’s also been the mastermind behind creating the stunning F-Type Project 7 and Range Rover SV Autobiography limited editions. At the moment, the company has not revealed as to which all models will get the SVO treatment in the future. However, in the coming four years, the performance arm is mulling to launch at least one new model each year.
