Jaguar Land Rover have announced a tie-up with global multimedia streaming app company to integrate Spotify in their in-car app list.
The developers of the Spotify app that allows users to stream music, podcasts and videos on digital multimedia devices, has tied up with British auto manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover to integrate the global app into their infotainment system offered in their vehicles.
The iOS app will available across the JLR range of cars which are equipped with InControl Apps with InControl Touch, InControl Touch Plus or the latest InControl Touch Pro touchscreen and will be available to download from September 27 from the Apple App Store. One the app has been downloaded into the phone and it is connected to the car’s system, the Spotify app will automatically show up on the infotainment screen. Requirement of a paid subscription is not necessary as well for the feature to work.
JLR claims, both companies have spent a year already collaboration to develop the integration of the app into the system. The feature also allows a “Just For You” playlist feature and also “Offline Mode” that can still play pre-downloaded multimedia context when internet connectivity is poor.
Jaguar is the second manufacturer to Ford, who have integrated and launched the Spotify feature into their cars. Volvo has also announced that their global line-up will soon feature the same app integration as well.
