Jaguar's much-awaited era of electrification in the country will begin with its first-ever electric SUV, the I-PACE. Deliveries are expected to begin in March 2021.
Jaguar is all set to begin its electric journey in India by launching its first EV here – the I-PACE. Though the amount has not been disclosed yet, bookings for the I-PACE are officially open across the country, with deliveries planned to begin in March 2021. For those not aware, the Jaguar I-PACE, since its debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, has been a recipient of more than 80 global awards, which also include the most prestigious 2019 World Car of the Year (WCOTY), World Car Design of the Year, and World Green Car of the Year titles.
For India, Jaguar will bring the I-PACE with a single powertrain option (EV400), and the car will be available in three trims – S, SE, & HSE. In the EV400 spec, the I-PACE features two electric motors, which are powered by a 90kWh Li-ion battery pack. The combined power and torque output (from both motors) and pegged at 394bhp and 696Nm, respectively. Like all modern-day performance EVs, the I-PACE also claims to offer a good balance between range and performance, with an appreciable WLTP-based driving range of up to 470kms and a 0 – 100km/h time of just 4.8 seconds. The top-speed remains capped at 200km/h.
To attract a healthy customer turnout, Jaguar will also throw in a complimentary 5-Year service package (with Road-Side Assistance) and a 7.4kW AC wall-mounted charger with each I-PACE at no additional cost. The battery pack, meanwhile, carries an independent 8-Year/1,60,000kms warranty. Moreover, Jaguar will also provide charging solutions to all I-PACE customers, including access to Tata Power's ‘EZ Charge’ EV charging network.
