Just days before the launch of the Toyota Hilux pickup, its rival, the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross, has seen a substantial price hike. The Isuzu MU-X SUV, however, carries the same sticker price as before.

Isuzu India currently has two vehicles in its portfolio. The Isuzu D-Max pickup and the IsuziuMU-X SUV, both of which were launched last year, have seen a substantial price increase now.

The Isuzu D-Max Hi-Lander, which was introduced as an affordable substitute to the V-Cross, has seen a price increase of Rs 2 lakh, which means that it now retails for Rs 19.02 lakh (ex-showroom).

The rear-wheel-drive automatic version of the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross now starts at Rs 21.98 lakh (ex-showroom). The aforementioned variants of the D-Max have seen the most price hike of Rs 2 lakh. This makes the entry point of the Isuzu D-Max family substantially higher.

However, the MU-X has not seen a price revision at all. The SUV retails at the same introductory price at which it was launched.

Following are the detailed ex-showroom prices of the MU-X and the D-Max range:

The four-wheel-drive variants of the D-Max V-Cross have seen a relatively milder price hike of Rs 1 lakh. Now, the price increase has taken place just days before the launch of the Toyota Hilux. We suspected that the Toyota Hilux is likely to carry a higher sticker price in the segment; however, with the recent price increase of the D-Max V-Cross, the prices of the Hilux may seem reasonable. However, we shall defer our judgement on the issue until January 20, for it's when Toyota will launch the Hilux in India.

The entry-level price of the Toyota Hilux is likely to be around Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom). You can read the specification comparison of the Toyota Hilux and the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross by clicking here.
