Apple iPhone manufacturer Foxconn has unveiled the production-ready Foxtron Model B, a five-door electric vehicle, at the ongoing Geneva Motor Show. It is based on in-house created MIH (Mobility in Harmony) modular architecture and is designed by the famous Italian firm Pininfarina. According to the Italian design house, the near-production-ready vehicle shown at the event is a 'product vision' that is nearly identical to the final car for sale. The Foxtron Model B EV features a highly aerodynamic design, including a bonnet vent and a D-pillar 'air curtain' to boost airflow and extend the electric range.
For the uninitiated, the Geneva International Motor Show is scheduled to take place from February 27 to March 3. So far, the show has featured impressive models such as the BYD Seal U, 2024 MG3, Renault 5 E-Tech, and more.
Foxtron Model B: Key Highlights
Foxtron has created five concepts based on its unique MIH (Mobility in Harmony) modular structure. These concepts are the Model B EV, the Model V dual-cab pick-up, the Model T bus, the Model E car, and the Model C, which is a bit larger. It is important to note that only the Model B and Model E have been designed by Pininfarina.
In terms of dimensions, the Model B EV is 1865mm wide, 1530mm tall, and 4300mm long overall. Its wheelbase is 2800mm. While not much about the powertrain is known, Foxconn asserts that the Model B will have approximately 500 kilometres of range.
Some Brand and Other Details
Foxtron is a partnership between Yulon Motor Company, a Taiwanese automaker, and Foxconn, the manufacturer of iPhones. The brand's focus is on researching, developing, and manufacturing electric vehicles in Taiwan. The main concentration of this association is a modular electric vehicle platform, and Pininfarina, which is primarily owned by Mahindra, the Indian industrial conglomerate, has been appointed to do the design work.
Pininfarina is a well-known Italian automotive design firm that has created some of the most iconic vehicles for Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Maserati, and others. In 2019, it globally debuted its first in-house car based on the Rimac Nivera platform called the Pininfarina Battista.
