Audi, Mercedes, BMW and the others; if you’re reading this and seen the picture on top, it’s time to get back to the drawing board and start re-thinking strategies. This is Infiniti’s luxury compact car concept - the Q30 - which we are sure will hit the production scene soon.
Though its shape resembles that of a hatch, Infiniti is keen to stress that the Q30 is not a hatch. The company says that it’s a fusion of various body styles that includes elements of not only a hatch but also a coupe and a crossover. By combining the sportiness of a coupe, the roominess of a hatch and the higher stance of a crossover, the Infiniti Q30 is sure to become a spectacle as the crowds pour in at the Frankfurt Motorshow.
The Q30 shares the MFA front-wheel-drive platform found in Mercedes-Benz’s compact range and most of the development has already been done. But to further differentiate its Q30 from rival compact offerings, Infiniti will call on its official director of performance and reigning Formula One world champion Sebastian Vettel, to help develop the chassis.
A production version of the Q30 will be due for launch sometime in 2015 with the car being rolled out initially at Nissan’s Sunderland plant in the U.K. But we’ll have more details when we visit the Infiniti stall in Frankfurt. Stay tuned for all the details.
