The first lot of Suzuki Baleno cars, manufactured in India that were exported have arrived in Japan.
Maruti Suzuki had exported their very first lot of cars that were made in India to Japan back in January 2016. The initial lot of the Indian manufactured Suzuki Baleno has now been unloaded at Toyohashi Port, Japan.
The Balenos exported to Japan have been manufactured at the Maruti Suzuki India Limited’s Manesar manufacturing facility and was exported to Japan.
Maruti Suzuki markets the Baleno in India through their premium NEXA channel where the global hatchback gets two engine options. The first is a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder Variable Valve Timing (VVT) petrol engine that generates 83bhp and 115Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. A 5-speed automatic Continuously Variable transmission (CVT) is also available on offer with the Petrol engine in the Baleno in India.
Maruti Suzuki also offers the Baleno with a 74bhp, 1.3-litre, 4 cylinder turbocharged DDiS diesel engine. The diesel powertrain only comes mated with the 5-speed manual gearbox and can generate a peak output of 190Nm of torque at 2000rpm.
Due to its competitive pricing, the Baleno has been received fairly well in the Indian market. Maruti will soon offer the Baleno in India with a 1.0L BOOSTERJET turbo charged petrol engine in the upcoming Baleno RS in addition to the existing engine options. However, due to emission standards differing from India to Japan, it is not confirmed which engines are being exported to Japan as of now. it is likely the 1.0L BOOSTERJET is being exported as a standard car for the Japanese market.
