Maruti Suzuki has begun exporting the India-made Fronx to Japan, with the first shipment of over 1,600 units departing the Pipavav port in Gujarat. Following the Baleno in 2016, this is the company's second model exported to Japan. Notably, the Fronx will be the first SUV from Maruti Suzuki to be introduced in Japan. It will go on sale under the banner of Suzuki Motor Corporation in the autumn of 2024. Currently, the specifics of the Fronx built for Japan are unknown, but the India-spec model is powered by a 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol or a 1.2-litre normally aspirated (NA) gasoline engine. The former produces 99bhp and 147.6Nm, while the latter generates 89bhp and 113Nm. The Boosterjet turbo-petrol mill can be equipped with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The naturally aspirated engine, on the other hand, gets a 5-speed manual and automatic manual as transmission options.
