The Made-in-India Hyundai Exter has launched in South Africa, with prices ranging between R2,69,900 and R3,34,900 (roughly Rs 12.95 lakh to Rs 16.07 lakh). For those unaware, the Exter SUV recently surpassed a sales milestone of one lakh units in India. It also gained a new Knight edition in its portfolio, based on the SX and SX (O) models, and priced between Rs 8.38 lakh and Rs 10.43 lakh (both, ex-showroom). Hyundai Exter: Exterior and Interior
The South African-spec Exter has projector H-shaped LED DRLs, projector-based halogen headlamps, 15-inch alloy wheels, and LED taillights with H-shaped elements. However, the model's grille is black chrome rather than blacked out, as seen on the India-spec variant.
Inside, the SUV gets a semi-digital instrument cluster, a single-pane sunroof, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and auto air conditioning with rear vents. It includes a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), six airbags, ABS with EBD, a rear-view camera, and electronic stability control (ESC) for safety.
Hyundai Exter: Under The Hood
The global-spec model gets the same 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine as its Indian counterpart, producing 82bhp and 113.8Nm. It is mated to a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. However, unlike the latter, the South African Exter does not offer a CNG powertrain.
