In early January, the leaked images of the new Volkswagen Tayron SUV gave us a proper look at the exterior design, which also contains elements from the Tiguan. And in a recent development, a fresh set of spy images has surfaced online, offering a glimpse into the interior of the three-row SUV. The spy shots of the Tayron show that it has an interior nearly identical to the Tiguan. The model spotted in China sports three screens – the central infotainment system, the digital instrument cluster, and the passenger display, giving the dashboard a sleek and minimalist look. Expect the screens to use Volkswagen's latest MIB4 software. New AC vents can be seen, along with two cupholders and a rotary dial for the drive selector. While there are no physical controls on the dashboard, there are still steering-wheel-mounted physical buttons and switches. Other bits include a wireless charging pad and a backlit slider controller for the new infotainment display.
Volkswagen Tayron: Powertrain
The Volkswagen Tayron sits on the brand's new MQB EVO platform with two-wheel drive as standard and all-wheel drive as an option. Under the hood, the China-spec Tayron gets a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. Meanwhile, an option of a 2.0-litre diesel engine is also expected in some markets. Additionally, two petrol plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), with 201bhp and 268bhp, will be on offer. For our market, Volkswagen will probably offer the 2.0-litre petrol engine. We expect more details to emerge as we move closer to the launch of the SUV in India.
Volkswagen Tayron: Dimensions
In terms of dimensions, the new Volkswagen Tayron measures 4,735mm in length, 1,859mm in width, and 1,682mm in height, making it larger than the latest Tiguan across all dimensions.

Volkswagen Tayron: India Launch
Set to go on sale in the Chinese market first, the upcoming Volkswagen Tayron will replace the Tiguan AllSpace globally. Expect the Tayron, which is in its second generation, to arrive on the Indian market through a CKD route in 2025. Once launched, the SUV will take on the likes of the Hyundai Tucson and the Jeep Meridian – to get ADAS tech.
