Independence Day 2024: During India's 78th Independence Day celebrations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made his entrance at the Red Fort in his heavily armoured Range Rover Sentinel SUV. Manufactured by Land Rover, a subsidiary of Tata Motors, the Sentinel is an engineering marvel, focused on safety and security. It is powered by a 5.0-litre Supercharged V8 engine, which delivers a 40bhp increase over the previous V6 version, ensuring both power and performance. The SUV features a certified protection cell designed to meet the highest standards of ballistic and blast protection, capable of withstanding even the most severe threats, including improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The vehicle's armoured shell provides comprehensive protection against modern and unconventional attacks, ensuring that the Prime Minister and his passengers remain safe at all times. Here is everything you need to know about the Range Rover Sentinel SUV.

Despite its formidable defences, the Sentinel's exterior remains remarkably understated. To the casual observer, its advanced security features are nearly invisible, with only subtle details like discreetly integrated LED lights in the bumpers and an optional Black Pack that gives the SUV a more imposing look, hinting at its true capabilities.
Range Rover Sentinel: Interior
The interior of the Sentinel appears unremarkable, concealing its advanced security features. The exact location of hidden compartments for rare weapons and access controls remains classified. Designed for the utmost discretion and comfort, this premium armoured SUV ensures that world leaders can travel in peace and serenity. Upgrades to the Sentinel include increased legroom and headroom, providing an even more spacious cabin. Rear passengers also benefit from enhanced luxury, with the addition of two 10-inch touchscreen infotainment displays, offering a blend of comfort and cutting-edge technology in a secure environment.

The 5.0-litre V8 supercharged petrol engine in the Range Rover Sentinel generates 375bhp. Designed to tackle any terrain and weather conditions, the Sentinel offers a top speed of 193km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 10.4 seconds—all while carrying over a tonne of armour plating and ballistic glass. The Sentinel is also equipped with run-flat all-terrain tyres, allowing it to travel up to 80km at speeds of up to 80km/h, even with a puncture.
