If Batman Wanted to be Eco-Friendly and Drive a Renault, The Filante 2025 Concept Would Make the Cut
The Renault Filante 2025 Concept aims to achieve groundbreaking benchmarks in terms of energy efficiency and driving range.

Renault has unveiled the Filante Record 2025, an all-electric demo car featuring a hammock-style driver’s seat crafted from stretched canvas. The concept is set to make its public debut at the Retromobile Motor Show in Paris from February 5th to 9th, 2025. The Filante Record 2025 takes inspiration from Renault’s iconic speed record vehicles, including the 40 CV des Records, Nervasport des Records, and Étoile Filante (‘Shooting Star’) from the 1920s, 1930s, and 1950s. Sandeep Bhambra, Director of Advanced Design, Renault and Ampere said, 'We designed this vehicle as a sculpture in motion. Inspired by fighter planes and the speed records of the nineteenth century, it reflects both performance and timeless elegance. Every inch of the surface was crafted to capture the light and showcase the body lines, which appear to melt into the air. The blue windows and colour palette further underline this light and airy impression. The design as a whole seeks to convey an impression of flow and lightness.'
Renault Filante 2025 Concept: Design and Chassis
Developed in partnership with boutique French automaker Ligier Automotive, this electric concept aims to achieve groundbreaking benchmarks in energy efficiency and driving range. Its sleek, aerodynamic form, highlighted by a striking Ultraviolet Blue hue, plays a vital role in this pursuit.

Coming to the dimensions, the car measures 5,131mm in length and stands 1,194mm tall. Lightweight materials such as advanced steel alloy wheels, carbon fibre, and aluminum were used extensively to keep the car's weight down to 1,000 kg, with the 87kWh battery pack accounting for 60% of the total mass.
Specialised 19-inch wheels equipped with narrow Michelin tyres reduce wind resistance, potentially enhancing the vehicle's range by up to 20%. Paying homage to the French automaker’s heritage, design elements include a tapered nose, slim body, circular headlights, and wheels mounted outside the chassis – merging classic influences with forward-looking technological advancements.

Distinctive front and rear wheel fairings not only enhance the vehicle's aesthetic appeal but also optimise aerodynamic efficiency by streamlining airflow and maintaining a continuous, unbroken body profile. The smooth design, including expansive side wheel flanges, contributes significantly to reducing drag.
Renault Filante 2025 Concept: Interior
Inside, the cockpit reflects inspirations from aviation and aerospace, blending performance, comfort, and functionality. This minimalist environment prioritizes ergonomic efficiency, with essential controls for safety, cruise functions, acceleration, and braking positioned for easy access. The driver’s seat, supported by slim carbon blades wrapped in technical textile, adapts to the occupant's body for enhanced integration with the vehicle.

Steering innovations include fully electronic steer-by-wire and brake-by-wire technologies, housed within a 3D-printed Scalmalloy structure. The panoramic cylindrical screen embedded in the steering wheel displays vital data like speed and range, while the wheel itself rises with the protective bubble for seamless entry and exit. Ventilation is achieved through an innovative air circulation system, eliminating the need for traditional technical components.
