ICOTY 2025: The MG Windsor EV has claimed the prestigious Green Car of the Year title. In a fiercely contested race, it was followed by the BMW i5 and the BYD Seal.

ICOTY 2025: The prestigious Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) awards have returned to honour the best in automotive across different segments. These highly anticipated awards celebrate excellence in three key categories: Overall Indian Car of the Year, Green Car of the Year, and Premium Car of the Year. For 2025, the MG Windsor EV took home the top honour of Green Car of the Year, scoring a total of 157 points. The popular BMW i5 claimed the first runner-up position with 99 points, while the BYD Seal emerged as the second runner-up with 87 points.

With the growing popularity of electric vehicles, the Green Car category featured some thrilling contenders. The competition was fierce, with eight strong entrants, including the Tata Punch EV and Mini Countryman EV, all competing for the top honour. These vehicles were meticulously evaluated across a range of criteria, including technical innovation, value for money, price, styling, comfort, safety, performance, practicality, and their suitability for Indian driving conditions. Notably, the Mahindra Thar Roxx emerged as the Indian Car of the Year, while the Mercedes-Benz E-Class clinched the Premium Car of the Year title.

Here are the key features and specifications of the Green Car of the Year that helped it win this prestigious award.

MG Windsor EV Specifications

The MG Windsor EV has three variants (Excite, Essence, and Exclusive), and is powered by an IP67-rated 38kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, enabling a range of 332 kilometres. MG’s Intelligent CUV (Crossover Utility Vehicle) has a permanent magnet synchronous motor, a maximum power output of 134bhp, and a peak torque of 200Nm. It has four driving modes: Eco, Eco+, Normal, and Sport. The EV can be charged in 55 minutes using a DC fast charger that has a capacity of up to 45kW.

In terms of features, the MG Windsor EV has aero-lounge rear seats with a 135-degree reclining capability, a 15.6-inch 'Grandview' main touchscreen, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, and seamless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, a leather-wrapped two-spoke steering wheel, and a panoramic glass roof.

The cabin is enhanced with 256 multi-colour LED ambient lighting and a 9-speaker Infinity sound system. For safety, the MG EV is equipped with a 360-degree surround-view camera system, six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), an electronic parking brake with auto hold, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

The MG Windsor EV is priced at Rs 13.50 lakh for the base Excite model, Rs 14.50 lakh for the mid-spec Exclusive variant, and Rs 15.50 lakh for the top-end Essence model. For those opting for Battery-as-a-Service, the price ranges from Rs 9.99 lakh to Rs 11.99 lakh. These are ex-showroom prices.
