Mercedes-Benz has decided to give the G-Class a minor makeover. Been in production for over 35 years, it still doesn't look a day older neither does it show any aging signs. More than the tweaks, the G-Class gets new and cleaner engines as well new suspension.

The G 500 gets new 4-litre V8 biturbo that delivers 416bhp with torque of 610Nm. According the Mercedes-Benz, the G 500 has a spontaneous response and a high tractive power because of two turbochargers arranged between the cylinder banks. This layout allows a compact design, optimal response and low exhaust emissions. The G 500 is  more fuel efficient thanks to the use of piezo direct petrol injection with spray-guided combustion.

Rest of the engine line have received an upgrade. The G 350 diesel punches out 242bhp and 442Nm, while the G 63 AMG has 555 ponies with 560Nm of torque. The big daddy G 65 AMG, which we don't get in India, produces a mind boggling 612bhp and 738Nm. And just in case if you thought it was a gas guzzler, well here is a surprise, it comes with a start-stop system for better mileage.

The G Class gets restyled bumpers, fender flares, new alloy wheel designs. Inside, the colour coordinated cabin and upholstery looks contemporary, vibrant and more luxurious. It also comes with a revised instrument cluster made up of four analog gauges and a fully configurable TFT screen.

Mercedes-Benz has worked on the suspension to ensure there is an increase in ride comfort on tarmac. They have also upgraded ESP and ABS.
