Tesla rival Polestar has pulled the wraps off the Synergy concept – the electric 'fantasy supercar' – at IAA Mobility 2023 in Munich, Germany. The Polestar Synergy combines three winning designs from Polestar's latest Design Contest (started in 2020), where over 600 entrants were assigned a task to design a Polestar vehicle centred around performance, an advanced technical story, and sustainability. Showcased as the full-scale model, the Polestar Synergy is the culmination of almost six months of work by the winners and the Polestar Design team to bring three different concepts into one cohesive reality. The judging panel selected three winners – two exterior winners based in France and one interior winner based in China.
Exterior designers, Devashish Deshmukh and Swapnil Desai, drew design inspiration from hollowed-out volumes, including a hammerhead shark, emotional durability with technical upgradability, and materials that age gracefully over time. Meanwhile, the interior designer, Yingxiang Li, created a cabin around a performance-oriented seating position and a new experience focused on 'floating comfort and control'.

Polestar Synergy Electric Supercar: What the Company Said?
On the occasion, Maximillian Missoni, Head of Design, Polestar, said, 'This year, the story is as much about collaboration as performance. I’m proud that the team was able to guide and support the winners to realise their dream of a full-scale model. It’s not often that student designers receive such exposure at the start of their career, something the Polestar Design Community on Instagram does so well, amplified this year by the 1:1 scale model and its planned tour of Polestar locations around the world.'
