Hyundai has unveiled the next generation model of the Elantra in Korea. The D-segment car has been revamped inside-out, and looks visibly different from its predecessor.
“The Elantra has set forth new standards for global compact-size sedans in each generation. With the pursuit to achieve world’s best technology, the newly introduced All-new Elantra was developed with concerted efforts of all our employees at Hyundai Motor,” said Woong-Chul Yang, Vice Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group’s R&D Center during the All-new Elantra launch ceremony in Namyang R&D Center, the heart of Hyundai Motor’s global R&D network and birthplace of all Hyundai cars, today.
The new Elantra is 20mm longer and 25mm wider than the current model, and features a prominent hexagonal grille at the front. Sporty headlamps complete the front look of the sedan.
Hyundai has given priority to safety in their latest offering, packing the Elantra with features such as Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), High Beam Assist (HBA), Blind Spot Detection (BSD) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA).
To satisfy the entertainment needs, the Elantra will sport an Harman sound audio system with eight speakers and an amplifier.
And finally, coming to the engine front. the Elantra will come in as many as three options: a 1.6-litre petrol motor that produces 130 bhp, a diesel engine of the same displacement that delivers 134 bhp, and a 2.0-litre petrol variant that is good enough for 147 bhp .
It remains to be seen which powertrains Hyundai would use when they decide to bring the new Elantra to our shores.
