The limited-edition Tucson Sport packs over 200 bhp.
Korean manufacturer Hyundai’s performance division – N Performance, has unveiled a more powerful version of their midsized Tucson SUV. Christened as the Hyundai Tucson Sport, this performance model is limited to just 500 units and will be exclusively sold in South Africa.
Under the hood, the car is available with a 1.6L four-cylinder turbo petrol engine, good for 201 bhp of power and 295 Nm of twist force. The turbo four motor comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Power is sent to the front wheels.
The updates don’t just lie under the skin. Hyundai’s N Performance division has also given the Tucson SUV a bunch of visual enhancements. The car comes with a visually striking body kit at the front and rear which adds to its overall character. The body kit is also accompanied by side skirts. Quad exhaust pipes and blackened out 19-inch alloy wheels are also present to represent the car’s sporty intentions.
N Performance had earlier confirmed that they’d be giving the Tucson SUV a hardcore performance treatment. A fully blown performance version of the SUV is speculated to be already under development and may take some time to be production ready.
Therefore, with the Hyundai Tuscon Sport, N Performance may be giving the enthusiasts a taste of good things to come. Presently, it is very unclear if Hyundai and N Performance will launch an equivalent of the Tucson Sport in any other country or not.
In India, the Hyundai Tucson prices range from Rs 19.0 – 25.01 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), with no performance oriented version on offer.
