The new Hyundai Tucson has been confirmed to be launched on November 14 after it was debuted at the Auto Expo earlier this year.
After its India debut at the 13th Auto Expo, Hyundai will finally launch the all new generation of the Tucson SUV in the India market on November 14 to cash in on the festive season. The previous generation of the Tucson was launched in India back in 2005 which found many buyers in the Indian market. Around 2010, Hyundai finally discontinued the vehicle in India when the sales started to drop as Indian market demanded SUVs that were even smaller.
The Hyundai Tucson in the model range will sit above the Creta but below the Santa Fe. Which is why it is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 20-25 lakh ex-showroom. While the specifications have not yet been confirmed by the Indian arm of the Korean brand, The Tucson will be offered a diesel engine while a petrol version is also likely. The diesel motor will probably be the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo which may be offered with a 134bhp tuning and 181bhp options. The petrol engine in the Tucson, if offered, will be the 2.0-litre MPi engine that churns out 153bhp. The 6-speed manual and automatic torque converter gearbox from the Creta will be offered in the Tucson. However, if Hyundai will also throw in an all-wheel-drive version remains to be seen.
The Tucson will come loaded with many features like leather upholstery and leather wrapped steering wheel. A touchscreen infotainment with navigation will also be included in the Tucson in addition to USB and Bluetooth connectivity with an eight-speaker sound system. A panoramic sunroof and electric lift tail gate will also be thrown in as optional extras.
Hyundai is expected to produce the Tucson in India with a significant chuck of components that will be locally sourced. The Tucson will compete in the Indian market against the Honda CR-V, Skoda Yeti, the SsangYong Rexton and even the lower variants of the Ford Endeavour.
