To enhance the safety of the passengers, Hyundai Motor India has added three-point seatbelt and seatbelt reminder as standard safety features across its entire model line-up. This new update comes days after the auto manufacturer made a three-point seatbelt as a standard safety feature for the Creta, the Venue, and the i20 models. All this is in alignment with the Indian government's push for stricter rules for vehicle safety, including a standardised crash test rating for all cars sold in the country and the mandatory installation of 6 airbags in all cars and SUVs. However, this rule is not likely to come into effect before October 2023.
''Customer safety is our utmost priority and we have been the forerunners in standardization of safety features. At Hyundai, we are committed to consistently elevate the safety standards of our product line-up and thus, in-sync with Indian Government’s direction, we have upgraded our full range model line-up with 3-point seatbelt and seatbelt reminder for all seats as standard offering", commented Mr Tarun Garg, Chief Operating Officer, Hyundai Motor India.

Active & Passive Safety Features
The safety feature list is not restricted to a three-point seatbelt. The company also has made a provision to offer 6 airbags as standard with the Tucson, the Kona, the Alcazar, the Ioniq 5, and the newly launched Verna. Meanwhile, the Hyundai Creta, the Venue, and the Alcazar come equipped with a host of active and passive safety features as standard, such as Electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, hill-start assist, and rear disc brakes. Moreover, the Alcazar and the Creta also get 6 airbags in total that include driver, passenger, side, and curtain airbags.

Hyundai SmartSense
On top of it, there is a Hyundai SmartSense suite of ADAS features that accompany the Tucson, the Ioniq 5, and the all-new Verna. These models come with front and rear radars, cameras, and sensors, which warns the driver about an approaching vehicle or a pedestrian on the road. The ADAS capabilities powered by Hyundai SmartSense include high beam assistance, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, blind spot monitoring, driver attentiveness warning, and more. This automated sensing technology, the company says, will be passed on to other models in the future.
