Hyundai registered a 9.5% growth in domestic sales during the month of April, the company announced in an official statement. The Korean car maker sold 38,601 cars in April 2015, as opposed to 35,248 units during the same time last year.

The company attributes its sales growth primarily to the Elite i20 and the newly launched i20 Active crossover.

"Hyundai with a volume of 38,601 units continued the growth momentum with 9.5% increase over last year on the strength of strong and young product portfolio led by 12,425 units of Elite i20 and i20 Active in a challenging market conditions especially in the rural market.” Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, Sr. VP- Sales and Marketing, Hyundai commented on the sales.

However, Hyundai - which boasts itself as the largest exporter of passengers cars in India - saw a sharp 14% decline in exports from 14,974 units in April 2014 to 12,904 units in the recently concluded month.
