Hyundai Motors has been awarded the Red Dot Design Award for the Kona and Nexo.
Hyundai Motor, for the fifth consecutive year, has won the Red Dot Design Award in 2018 making it a total of 10 awards to the Korean marquee.
Winning two of this year’s Red Dot Design Awards, The Hyundai Fuel Cell vehicle Nexo and the subcompact SUV Kona was awarded in the cars and motorcycle category. The Hyundai Kona was awarded the outstanding design and innovation for ‘SUV/Off-road vehicles’. Additionally, the Hyundai Nexo also received an award in its subcategory.
The vehicles were assessed upon the product’s functionality, durability, level of innovation and overall quality with emphasis on aspects of form and function.
The Hyundai Nexo is the brand’s second-generation fuel cell electric vehicle. While the Hyundai Kona broadens the company’s SUV line up offering a funky designed vehicle in the sub-compact SUV segment. The manufacturer claims that design is the ultimate factor that customers choose Hyundai products.
Prior to their two awards in the 2018 Red Dot Design Awards, Hyundai received the same award for the Hyundai Azera and an honourable mention was given to the i30. In 2016, the Ioniq range was awarded which was preceded by a double recognition in 2015 for the i20 and the Sonata and the i10 and Genesis in 2014.
