The official announcement from Hyundai about the new SUV's global debut "later" in 2024 did not include any concrete information about the Ioniq 7. Instead, it was part of a bundle of information about the company's entire 2025 range. Although it will likely be called the "Ioniq 7," the manufacturer did not use that moniker. June was supposed to be the SUV's release month. It turned out not to be the case, though, as the brand has officially announced that the model will have its global debut later this year. It is important to note that the upcoming product will be modelled after Concept Seven, which was presented in 2021.

Needless to say, the Hyundai Ioniq 7 will share many features with Kia's flagship vehicle, the EV9, and will be based on the E-GMP, a dedicated skateboard platform. Although the specification details of the Ioniq 7 are still under wraps, the electric SUV is anticipated to use the EV9's battery packs and motors.

As far as the mechanical specifications of the EV9 are concerned, the Kia model comes with an all-wheel-drive version, delivering 379bhp of maximum power, and a rear-wheel-drive version with an electric motor, producing 215bhp of peak power. In addition, Kia is working on the highly efficient EV9 GT, which should develop up to 576bhp. There will likely be two battery options: a 76.1kWh unit and a 99.8kWh one. The former claims to have a range of 370 km, while the latter can go over 480 km.

Based on the spy photos, the front end has split LED headlamps with separate lighting units below and LED Daytime Running Lights above. The sides have a big quarter glass section, black polished pillars, flush-fitting door handles, and dual-tone alloy wheels. In contrast to the EV9, the Ioniq 7 will have a crossover-like appearance, emphasising roominess, and functionality. The boxy rear section has vertical LED tail lamps on the pillars, a horizontal LED light bar with a characteristic spoiler, and a large sunroof. The production version will be comparatively more subdued than the concept since the test mules show conventional round arches in place of the squared-off wheel arches.

Hyundai Ioniq 7: Feature Set

On the feature front, expect the model to boast a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system integrated into a curved display, ventilated and massage seats, an ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) suite, and connected car technology.

Besides the Ioniq 7 e-SUV, Hyundai's 2025 global lineup will comprise revamped versions of the Ioniq 5 crossover, Tucson SUV, and the Santa Cruz light truck. With integrated digital infotainment and gauge cluster displays, the Tucson and Santa Cruz now have a more aggressive front design.
