Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV Gets New Exterior and Interior Colour Options

The Hyundai Ioniq 5, which retails for Rs 46.05 lakh (ex-showroom), competes against the Kia EV6, the Volvo XC40 Recharge, and the BYD Seal in India.

Hyundai India has introduced new exterior and interior paint schemes for the Ioniq 5. The electrified SUV is now also available in Titan gray exterior and Obsidian black interior colours. It was initially available in a single interior colour, Dark Pebble Grey, and three exterior finishes: Midnight Black Pearl, Optic White, and Gravity Gold Matte. Aside from the revised paint scheme, the Hyundai SUV remains unchanged. The Ioniq 5 is based on the Electric-Global Modular Platform, which Hyundai claims improves high-speed stability, and cornering capability. It has an array of safety features, including electronic stability control (ESC), six airbags, an engine parking brake, Level 2 ADAS, and ABS with EBD.

Tarun Garg, COO, of Hyundai Motor India Ltd., commented on the update for the Ioniq 5 in India and said ''With the introduction of the all-electric SUV Hyundai Ioniq 5, Hyundai had created new benchmarks and the same has been recognized by our expansive portfolio of customers. Hyundai Ioniq 5 has been recognized by automobile industry critics with several accolades and recognitions. The sustainable, futuristic, and high-performance SUV has already found more than 1400 homes and we are sure that with the enhanced colour offerings, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 will continue to fulfill all customer expectations, contribute towards a better tomorrow, and set new milestones in India.”

Hyundai Ioniq 5: Features

The Hyundai electric car has a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual-zone climate control, voice assistant, motorized tailgate, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charger, panoramic sunroof, heads-up display, and ventilated seats. It is equipped with a Bose eight-speaker sound system with six different ambient natural sound options.

Hyundai Ioniq 5: Powertrain and Rivals

The Ioniq 5 is fitted with a single rear-wheel-drive electric motor and a 72.6 kWh battery. In this configuration, the Hyundai e-car develops 216bhp and 350Nm. The SUV can go 631 kilometres on a single charge. It can be charged from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes using a 350kW DC fast charger. In addition, the Ioniq 5 has Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, which allows it to generate up to 3.6kW of power. 

Priced at Rs 46.05 lakh (ex-showroom), the Ioniq 5 competes with the BYD Seal, the Kia EV6, and the Volvo XC40 Recharge in the Indian premium electric market.
