Hyundai has introduced its new dual-cylinder CNG setup in the Grand i10 Nios hatchback. It is the same technology we recently saw on the Exter compact SUV. Dubbed the Grand i10 Nios Hy-CNG Duo, the new model ranges from Rs 7.75 lakh for the Magna variant to Rs 8.30 lakh for the Sportz variant. The prices are ex-showroom, India. Compared to its equivalent petrol AMT variant, the Magna Hy-CNG Duo carry a premium of around Rs 32,000. The Sportz Hy-CNG Duo, on the other hand, costs roughly Rs 37,000 more than the Sportz petrol-AMT variant. For those planning to buy the single-cylinder CNG variants (also on sale), the price of the Grand i10 Nios Hy-CNG Duo might make you reconsider your decision since it costs just Rs 7,000 more than its single-cylinder CNG counterpart.
With this update, the Grand i10 Nios joins the Exter, Tiago, Punch, Tigor, and Altroz CNG models in offering similar twin-cylinder CNG technology. Like in the Exter Hy-CNG Duo, the twin-cylinder CNG technology in the Nios includes two smaller CNG cylinders with a total capacity of 60 litres, resulting in increased boot space over the traditional CNG cars.
