Hyundai Motor India is gearing up to launch the updated Grand i10 in next month in India with updated powertrains.
The new Hyundai Grand i10 has been confirmed for the Indian market and sources confirm that the car will be launched sometime in mid February this year.
In addition to the standard 5-speed manual transmission, the four-speed automatic gearbox will continue to be offered with the 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder Kappa petrol engine. However, a new diesel engine mated to the 5-speed manual gearbox is expected to arrive in India to help the car be more competitive in the segment, and it will replace the 1.1-litre, 3-cylinder CRDi engine.
Though the vehicle will be based on the current generation of the car, the updated Grand i10 will get some cosmetic updates. The exterior will be mostly new while the interior will also get some mild updates. The front bumper will be new and will get a new front grille with LED DRLs integrated into the grille itself. The rear bumper is also new and will feature a large blackened panel with rear fog lamps. The shape of the tail lamps will be similar to the current model; however slight changes might be seen inside the assembly when the car arrives in India. The interior cabin will remain mostly identical to the current model, but it may feature an all new touchscreen infotainment system with navigation. However, it is unlikely that the dual-tone dash and interior would be offered in India.
The updated car will compete with Maruti’s upcoming Ignis which will be launched on January 13, before Hyundai arrives with their updates for the Grand i10.
