In a brief period, the South Korean automaker's Exter has emerged as the most favoured model in India. Its growing popularity, as evidenced by bookings that are getting close to one lakh, and its remarkable sales numbers, speak for themselves. The Hyundai Exter competes with SUVs like the Tata Punch, the Nissan Magnite, and the Renault Kiger and is priced between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 10.15 lakh (ex-showroom). Market reports state that Hyundai has shipped 31,174 Exter units in the domestic market between July and October, indicating a respectable start for the vehicle. Hyundai's compact SUV is based on the same chassis as the Grand i10 but exudes a different design.

The front of the SUV is defined by projector headlights, a black mesh radiator grille, and an H-shaped LED daytime running light, while the rear is distinguished by H-shaped LED taillamps, a tailboard with a slanted rear glass, a shark-fin antenna, a rear wiper, and an integrated roof spoiler. Hyundai Exter: Engine
Under the hood, the Exter has a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder, Kappa petrol engine that produces 83bhp and 113.8Nm of performance figures. It can be mated to a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic. In addition, the SUV is available with a CNG option that generates 68bhp and 95.2Nm with a 5-speed MT. The model comes in 5 core variants– EX, S, SX, SX(O), and SX(O) Connect. Except for the entry-level model, all other petrol units come with both MT and AMT gearboxes. However, the CNG-spec is available only on the mid-spec versions, the S and SX. The Exter MT, Exter AMT, and Exter CNG are said to provide 19.4km/l, 19.2km/l, and 27.1km/l of mileage, respectively.

Hyundai Exter: Features Onboard
A dual-camera dashcam, rear AC vents, voice-activated motorised sunroof, wireless charging, and a cooled glove box are some of the segment-firsts for the SUV. The car also features an 8-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, automatic climate control, a digital indicator cluster with a 4.2-inch coloured TFT MID, and more. The model has numerous safety features, such as automated headlights, child seat anchor (ISOFIX), electronic stability control (ESC), vehicle stability management, hill assist control, ABS with EBD, and six airbags.
