Hyundai is gearing up to launch the Exter SUV in the Indian market shortly. Interested buyers can book the SUV by paying a token amount of Rs 11,000 at the nearest authorized dealership or the official website. In a recent development, the carmaker made public a few specifications of the SUV. It has been revealed that a 1.2-litre inline four-cylinder, normally aspirated petrol engine, and a CNG fuel option will both be included in the forthcoming model. While the all-new Exter CNG will only be available with a manual transmission, the petrol versions will be accessible with a five-speed manual or an AMT automatic gearbox. It is important to note that Hyundai has not yet released the official power and torque numbers. However, according to industry reports, the 1.2-litre engine will reportedly deliver 83bhp of maximum power and 114Nm of peak torque, which is on par with the Grand i10 Nios, the Aura, and the Venue. Now, let's have a closer look at more details on the compact SUV, which will reportedly start running on our streets by mid-July 2023.

Hyundai Exter: Colours

The Hyundai Exter will have six monotone exterior paint choices: Atlas White, Cosmic Blue, Fiery Red, Starry Night, Titan Grey, and a Ranger Khaki, which is exclusive to Hyundai. It will also get three dual-tone colorways based on Atlas White, Cosmic Blue, and Ranger Khaki. These options will be accessible on the Exter's petrol counterpart. The CNG models, meanwhile, will not get dual-tone paint options.

According to Hyundai, there will be 26 safety features as standard on the mid-and top-spec models. However, these features be optional on the base E and S versions. Hyundai has further announced that the higher-spec Exter SUV models will incorporate more than 40 high-tech safety features, such as automatic headlamps, headlamp escort functionality, ISOFIX mounts, rear defoggers, and rear parking cameras.

A while ago, Hyundai upgraded its entire lineup by introducing a 3-point seatbelt and a seatbelt reminder as standard safety features. Consequently, the Hyundai Exter will also come equipped as standard with a 3-point seatbelt and a seatbelt reminder. It will also have keyless entry, ABS with EBD, ESS, rear parking sensors, and a burglar alarm.

Hyundai Exter: Engine

In terms of powertrain, the upcoming SUV will get a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol and a CNG option. Right now, the official power and torque figures have not been disclosed, but according to several industry reports, the petrol engine will reportedly generate 83bhp of power and 114Nm of torque. On offer will be a five-speed manual or an AMT transmission. The CNG engine, on the other hand, will likely deliver a maximum power and torque output of 69bhp and 95.2Nm, respectively. However, it will only use a manual gearbox.
